Acer palmatum grows to about 7m high & wide, in Sheltered/sun/partial shade. Slightly acidic, sandy, well-drained loam with a good amount of organic matter is preferred. Will not tolerate wet, dry or very alkaline conditions.The leaves are 4–12 cm long and wide, palmately lobed with five, seven, or nine acutely pointed lobes. The flowers are produced in small clusters.
